This listing is being SOLD UNDER CONSIGNMENT from a regular iNVISeDGE seller in BAYSWATER, Melbourne. These photos were done by my vendor but I have personally inspected this furniture so I’m fully versed on what’s on offer.

Provenance and Background Info

A stunning lounge chair produced in the early-1980’s by acclaimed AUSTRALIAN furniture company Danish Deluxe (price is for the ARMCHAIR ONLY- the matching footstool and coffee table is additional). In my opinion this is one of Danish Deluxe’s best vintage designs and has become highly sought-after. It has the curves and sleek refined quality of Westnofa’s highly celebrated designs (such as the Siesta) BUT without the price tag. Second-hand Norwegian Siesta chairs are fetching about $1,600 EACH and more in the trendy designer shops in Melbourne. I’ve even seen Westnofa Siesta footstools priced at a whopping AU $3,200- that’s just for the footstool- no chair! (All the Westnofa footstools I saw online were AU $1,600 or above.) WE’VE PRICED THIS SUITE TO SELL!

From an investment point of view, a lounge chair WITH THE MATCHING FOOTSTOOL is probably the most sought-after item on the iNVISeDGE website. We receive regular enquiries for a vintage leather lounge chair with a matching footstool. Vintage footstools are very hard to get so the rarity and desirability of having one greatly elevates the value and appeal of any vintage lounge chair.

I really love the colour of this suite too- the light tones marry well with the refined styling, giving this suite a cool Swedish / Scandinavian look. This suite has a 1980’s twist in these tones but is still neutral so would work in any space.

The FULL-GRAIN leather is SUPERB in quality and after many years of use, the leather is soft to the touch and very supple. Fall into this suite at the end of a hard day and it will feel like you’re melting into a cloud.

So graceful in looks- yet minimalist … plus the cool vintage slant. Danish Deluxe was an AUSTRALIAN business that was commissioned to produce various licensed European designs in the 1960’s and 1970’s (including some famous Danish designs). This lounge chair though is rare on a worldwide platform and will add an interesting slant to your space.

The other thing this design has going for it is DURABILITY. This ensemble is WAY more durable than the Westnofa Siesta design. The overall structure is sturdier because of the extra supporting pieces PLUS this canvas seat section under the cushion is far more superior compared to the Siesta. The canvas seat has various steel pieces in the sub-structure which not only aids seating support and comfort but makes this element a lot more durable. The eyelets and rope that hold the Siesta canvas section on those frames can often have fraying problems and worse after years of use. NOT SO with this design- these pieces are way more labour intensive and lot better in quality compared to Siesta chairs.

This design is also COMFORTABLE. The cushioning is great- the angles, proportions and height of the back are all brilliant for comfort. The height of the back coupled with the subtle curve in the back, is optimal for comfort. This suite looks stunning but this is NOT at the expense of comfort!

This particular suite is also unlike virtually any other in this design I’ve seen. The other Danish Deluxe suites I’ve ever come across have been very dark in colour, both the frames and leather. These are nice and light, they promote a gentler look and can be more easily worked into any space including a small modern apartment because it doesn’t look imposing AT ALL.

This suite has been thoroughly cleaned and conditioned and is in excellent condition overall.

The timber pieces are connected together with thick metal bolts. This creates a very strong chair. Most vintage chairs have timber pieces fitting into each other at the joint areas- any major stress on those areas can create cracks, splits and breaks in the structure of the chairs. For this design the main areas of stress are placed on thick metal bolts and various pieces of thick, flat timber- this means these chairs should never have any structural issue (if you use them with any sense). The bolts need to be tightened after every few years of use- if this is done, this suite will last a lifetime (just as it already has). This suite is over 40 years old and ready for another generation of use and enjoyment.

Many mass-produced modern suites are ending up as landfill in as little as a decade of use. This suite has not only avoided landfill after over 40 years, it is now ready to be moved straight into another lounge room. (My vendor has given the leather a thorough clean- this is all that was needed for this suite). On top of this, this is an overlooked design that could never be produced again for anything like this price. The investment appeal in this listing is a no-brainer- watch the value of this suite rise in the future! Danish Deluxe suites (in timeless colours such as this) should only increase in value in the future meaning this is not a purchase at all but a solid INVESTMENT. There’s no better way I can think of to invest in your home and our environment. It’s a win – win … for everybody and our environment!

2606, 2003 and 2005 and 2102

This suite is in excellent vintage condition. Both pieces are solid and sturdy with NO cracks, NO splits, NO wobbles and NO repairs- NO structural issues at all. There may be some minor signs of use expected for something of this age, but nothing that warrants a mention. This vintage suite looks amazing as is shown in my vendor's images. There is some weird light / sun reflection going on in some of these photos. The colour over both chair and footstool is CONSISTENT. It does appear otherwise in some photos but this is from sun reflection. If you study all the photos you'll see that in some photos there is NO variation in the tone of the leather at all- this verifies that any tonal variation has to be from lighting reflection (if it was in the leather it would have shown that way in EVERY photo and that is NOT the case). _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The leather is in amazing vintage condition, it is amazing that after all these years of use it is so soft to the touch- there is not a hint of disintegration to the leather AT ALL. This is leather AT IT'S BEST (it's VINTAGE LEATHER from the 1970's and 1980's- NOT the cheap shitty leathers used on many furniture items these days!) The canvas backs / seat sections are in great condition as shown in our photos. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Dimensions.
