Background Info and Provenance

This beautiful floor lamp is one of a kind. The lamp stand is a German printers stamp roll that put an atomic MCM print on wallpaper, apparently never used and then repurposed. The roll has been capped and footed with ash timber, which is currently being refurbished by the owners (photos showing the refinished wood will be loaded to this listing in coming days). The lamp has brass fittings and the original wiring and bakelite plug with earth that has been checked as safe, and a clotted cream coloured linen barrel shade. Its a truly lovely and unique piece. Redolent of the post-war make do and mend philosophy that we at iNVISeDGE fervently stand by, it speaks to Australia’s immigrant history, post war ingenuity, artisan craftsmanship and items that are built to last for generations.

This lamp is in excellent original condition. The wood will be refurbished prior to sale, brought back to a glowing state by resurfacing and the use of 10 coats of Tung oil. This 1950's floor lamp is fully operational and safe to use. The lamp stand and base has NO chips, NO cracks, NO repairs, NO wobbles, NO structural defects at all. It is a very heavy, solid piece and stands very stoutly in upright position. It is very presentable and overall is in nice clean condition.
