Description

The AU $2,900 for ALL 6 CHAIRS is an OFFERS OVER price. (ie. OFFERS OVER AU $485 PER CHAIR). This set is pretty-much irreplaceable, therefore we’ll let the market and online response dictate value here.
This suite is being sold under consignment by a private seller located in Mudgeeraba, GOLD COAST Hinterland but can be transported Australia-wide for a reasonable additional fee- approx $270 to get all 6 chairs to SYDNEY.
Provenance and Background Information
Rare Set of 6 Sculptural 1960’s Dining Chairs – A Timeless Investment
Discover an extraordinary set of six vintage dining chairs from the early 1960’s, hand-crafted in Europe with a sculptural elegance that stands unmatched. After 24 years in the vintage furniture business, I can confidently say these are the finest chairs of their style that iNVISeDGE has ever offered. Their refined, fluid design surpasses even the coveted Neils Moller chairs and various TH Brown & Sons produced Danish-designs from the same era. What sets these apart? A STURDY, robust construction with thicker backs and fatter upright-posts, ensuring unparalleled durability without sacrificing the graceful silhouette.
These chairs are not about a brand name (although in all honesty I believe there is a heavyweight behind these- I just don’t know who it is!). Instead, you’re investing in exceptional craftsmanship and timeless appeal at a fraction of their true value. Recently dipped to remove the old finish and reveal the raw timber, this suite offers you the freedom to choose your desired finish, whether a light alcohol-based polish to fashion a natural tone or an oil-based finish with a custom tint to create a darker result or even a different hue. The current upholstery, a faded high-end designer fabric from the 1980’s, is ready for an update, giving you full control to select what will complement your style and existing décor.
Despite nearly 60 years of use, all six chairs remain rock-solid with NO wobbles, NO structural issues at all and NO repairs. Sourced from a vendor who brought them from the UK to Australia in the 1980’s, these chairs were cherished enough to travel across the globe- testament to the special quality on offer here. While the vendor believes they are Danish, we’re listing them as European-made due to the absence of markings, ensuring full transparency.
Comfort is where these chairs truly shine. The generous curve in the back cradles you, and the taller-than-usual backrest provides exceptional support, making them the most comfortable chairs in this style I’ve ever encountered. Comparable sets, like a set of 6 Neils Moller Model 75 chairs priced at AU $19,000 overseas or a pair of Moller rosewood carvers at AU $29,000, pale in comparison to the value you have an opportunity to secure here. The cheapest similar set I found overseas was over AU $10,000- yet these chairs offer a more superior shape in my eyes plus the unique opportunity to customize the finish.
This is a rare chance to own a piece of design history that transcends trends, blending timeless style with sustainability. Perfect for the discerning buyer, these chairs are an astute investment in your home and a statement against disposable culture. Priced in an OFFERS OVER situation due to their exceptional rarity, you’ll be hard-pressed to find another set like this- especially one that grants you the power to control the final look. Don’t miss out on this unparalleled opportunity to own a set of chairs that are as collectable as they are captivating.

These chairs are in excellent vintage condition. Every chair has been carefully inspected. The array of close-up photos shown are indicative of every chair that's on offer. There are NO cracks, NO wobbles, NO repairs, NO structural defects, NO repairs. Every chair is solid, sturdy and comfortable. The timber is in brilliant condition for chairs of this age. There's no signs of use that warrant a mention really. The original finish has just been stripped off. The raw timber needs a very light sand and new polish applied- this is an easy job and would take about 45 minutes per chair. The chairs were re-upholstered in the 1980's- this upholstery is looking tired but is not completely feral. They can be used as they are and updated later- they are ready for an update but this is not pressing. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Measurements.
