Background Info and Provenance

A vintage BLUE genie bottle made in Italy in the 1960’s. This one is a good height (43cm tall). Blue is a pretty hard colour to get- green and amber (brown) is much easier to find compared to blue. And this is a really nice colour too- vibrant and mid-tone. It will work with any group.
This one is a favourite of mine. I’ve never come across one in this shape before. It adds a point of interest in any group but doesn’t take all the attention. Love those curves! It has a similar look to the famous “Bulge” Vase by Holmegaard in 1960’s.
This particular piece is a great investment because you won’t find another like it again! I like the embossed flower pattern near the bottom as well- it’s indistinct so it’s still the shape that takes focus but indicative of the era to add investment appeal. These genie bottles are mould-blown and have become an icon of the era.
The investment appeal of these is a no-brainer. These are must-haves in any retro-inspired interior. But also have a “designer edge” so would be well placed in any interior really. They’re now almost 60 years old. As pieces get lost or broken, values can only continue to go up. I’ve seen first-hand how the value of these keep increasing. Before I continue here, remember that values of authentic vintage genie bottles vary considerably depending on the colour. I saw a red one priced at AU $1800 last year (!) I went through my records and sold a red one back in 2011 for AU $400- wish I’d held onto it! I sold a green one back in 2013 for $95. In 2022 I sold the same thing for $245!
Good vintage genie bottles are getting hard to get. I came across less than 3 good ones for sale on ebay at the time of writing. One was a staggering AU $2200! (See the screenshots in this listing.) I was shocked! Some ebay sellers obviously have absolutely no idea what they’re doing but this also verifies that these vintage pieces are very collectable. Values will continue to climb in the future.
These decanters were inspired by the “I Dream of Jeannie” TV series that ran through the mid-1960’s. They were done in all sorts of shapes, colours and sizes.
After many of today’s décor items have ended up as landfill, this 50 to 60-year-old piece will be handed onto yet another generation to tell a whole new swarm of stories to. There is no better way I can think of to invest in your home and reduce your carbon footprint. Investing in authentic vintage décor pieces is a smart way to go- these pieces will not lose any value in the future.

This blue vintage genie bottle is in excellent condition. There are NO cracks, NO repairs, NO chips, NO noticeable damage. This one is in excellent condition with only light signs of use to be expected of any vintage glass piece- nothing that warrants a mention. There is no plastic insert for this piece so I wound sticky-tape around the base of the stopper so it sits on top more firmly (this could easily be removed if you prefer it how it was). _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
