Description

Our listed price is $1,350 EACH LOUNGE ARMCHAIR. The matching 3-seater sofa is additional. Preference will be given to offers for the FULL SUITE- the 3-seater sofa AND matching pair of chairs. I ALSO HAVE A 2-SEATER SOFA that I haven’t photographed yet. It’s in the same condition as the pair of chairs (SO SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER CONDITION THAN THE 3-SEATER). If you buy the 3-seater sofa with the pair of armchairs, the sofa will be $1,295. The last 2nd Messina 3-seater sofa I sold went for $3,000. The leather in the seat section of the sofa shows signs of use but still has plenty of life left in it. This leather is designed to show use and character over time- if this works in with the rest of your interior- the current upholstery should last for another 30 years or more. You could re-upholster just the seat section only (because the back leather is still great). Click on the CONDITION & DIMENSIONS tab for more information.

There is a video on my Instagram page showing a pair of Messina lounge armchairs that iNVISeDGE has since sold. I am relaxing in a Messina lounge armchair to demonstrate the comfort and seating support of this design. To watch the video, go to … www.instagram.com/invisedge

RRP NEW- AU $9,350 for just the 3-seater sofa only + $10,280 for the pair of armchairs = $19,630 TOTAL for the full suite.

LOCATION- Lidcombe, SYDNEY. All iNVISeDGE furniture can be sent via a professional furniture carrier, Australia-wide for a reasonable additional fee, (about $340 to get this pair of armchairs to Brisbane or Melbourne).

ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR LOUNGE SUITE

This is the “Messina” design which was introduced by Pacific Green Furniture about 45 years ago. This particular suite is about 30 years old. It has the Pacific Green Made in FIJI label which indicates it is an earlier version (virtually all Pacific Green Furniture is made in China these days.) Going by the label, I believe this particular suite was made in the late-1990’s. Redefining pure luxury and supreme comfort, this suite is truly in a league of its own. Every detail showcases a unique, designer aesthetic- from the sleek, minimalist armrests to the striking, cylindrical Palmwood trunk legs that give this suite such a distinctive silhouette.

Don’t miss this suite- this listing price is a small fraction of the retail price. I doubt you’ll ever find another of these suites at this price again. There are some shops in Australia selling vintage (Made in Fiji) Pacific Green suites for MORE than the new retail price.

Upholstered in premium semi-aniline leather, this lounge suite offers pure, supple luxury designed to develop a rich character over time- aging beautifully like a favourite leather jacket. Beneath its soft, comfy exterior lies a masterpiece of engineering- the timber components are seamlessly joined to a solid steel sub-structure built to endure for generations. In a brilliant feat of design, the cylindrical Palmwood trunks have been cleverly hollowed out to discreetly house and hide the steel frame inside the legs. Finished in warm, earthy tones, the palette allows the striking, sculptural shape of the suite to take centre stage. You simply won’t find a more inspiring designer suite in this price range.

Background Info about Pacific Green

(Mainly written in 2016 but updated in 2026.)

An exceptional quality Messina leather lounge 2.5-seater sofa, HAND-CRAFTED by highly-awarded company, PACIFIC GREEN. (The matching pair of armchairs are priced SEPARATELY.) Pacific Green Furniture is at the top in my eyes- they offer it all and have their own original style others wouldn’t even try to copy. Pacific Green has taken resort furniture to a whole new level here. The design has a distinct tropical-island feel to it and make no mistake … this is COMMERCIAL-GRADE furniture. It hasn’t been built to last one or two generations- Pacific Green makes this furniture so well that I believe it will last forever. Look at the metal sub-structure here! You won’t see anything like it in virtually any of the furniture out there today.

This sofa is the best Messina design Pacific Green ever did. It was made about 30 years ago. The Messina design (like many Pacific Green designs) was tinkered with over the years. The earliest ones are pretty ugly and have exposed black metal bars running across the backs- these pieces don’t!

Engineered for exceptional comfort, these chairs feature perfectly contoured backs and precise, ergonomic angles. The seat gently slants back for additional comfort to align perfectly with the angled backrest, while the premium cushioning offers the ideal balance of plush resilience and firm support. The result is a beautifully tailored design that effortlessly holds you in an ideal seating position.

The Messina has been a “mainstay” for Pacific Green- they’re still selling a full suite like this today for about AU $20,000 new. Ours is a mere fraction of that. I’ve even seen a pair of second-hand Messina chairs sell in America for MORE than the new price here in Australia! The investment appeal on offer here is a no-brainer (ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THERE’S A MADE IN FIJI LABEL UNDERNEATH)- in my eyes the value of VINTAGE (c.1990’s) Pacific Green suites should only go up in the future. In the right home, this suite would look incredible but is also warm and inviting- not clinical looking like most designer furniture. Plus the armrests are perfect to rest your drink on! (But make sure you use a coaster.)

Pacific Green originated from the Post & Rail brand which started in Sydney in the 1970’s and is heralded for its construction quality. Post & Rail grew into an international brand and in the late-1980’s they did the unthinkable. With a highly successful brand they changed tack completely. With the world’s new concern with deforestation and ecological threats, Post & Rail closed and re-branded as Pacific Green. Pacific Green searched the world for a sustainable quality timber for their future furniture production- the solution? Coconut wood. In the South Pacific, they found vast abandoned plantations of coconut palm trees, which were commercially planted in the early-1900s but had reached the end of productive fruiting. The best part? Coconut wood is a HARD-WOOD that’s more resilient than virtually any timber. It thrives in areas battered by tropical cyclones.

After I’d found out that, I not only wanted the suite I’d found but wanted to start stocking new Pacific Green furniture in iNVISeDGE (which would be a first for us because we currently sell only pre-loved furniture). But there’s more. Pacific Green set a benchmark for modern, sustainable business in the Pacific. In the late-1980’s land was leased, not bought, to respect indigenous ownership. Their factory was built in consultation with surrounding villages and employed only local people. Business and skills training programmes were established. The factories in Fiji are owned by Fijians- the drive is still Australian- the designing arm and retailing strategy happens here in Australia.

Pacific Green today has grown from that little furniture-making firm that started in the Rocks, Sydney back in 1973 (as Post & Rail). I am inspired and heartened they changed tack back in the late-1980’s when ecological threats were barely thought of. I can write nothing critical about these chairs or Pacific Green so I am now a salesman for new Pacific Green Furniture (this is a first for iNVISeDGE).

The best thing about Pacific Green Furniture is the inspiration it evokes- Pacific Green ticks every box and proves that businesses can be successful, ecologically-responsible and socially aware. This lounge suite has been built to last generations and will continue to tell stories for centuries to come (probably forever)- Pacific Green furniture will be the antiques of tomorrow. There’s no better way to invest in your home and reduce landfill.

The leather on the seat section of the sofa shows signs of use, but it still has plenty of life left in it. Semi-aniline leather is designed to develop character and show its age over time. However, if you prefer a fresher look, you could easily re-upholster just the seat section only, especially since the leather on the back remains in great condition and matching this classic leather colour would be quite simple. But as it is, the leather should easily last another 30 years or more if the current aesthetic suits your interior. As for the matching pair of Messina armchairs, the leather is in excellent condition overall- the pair of chairs have a very neat and tidy appearance. While there is some minor cat-clawing, it is located mainly at the back and right down near the floor. You wouldn't notice it unless you got down on the ground to inspect it closely, and even then, the light has to catch this panel just right to show these tiny prick-marks. Because these areas normally fall into shadow, the imperfections are usually impossible to spot. One armchair has a few tiny scratches on a lower side panel, but this minor wear blends in as part of the suite's history rather than looking like unsightly damage. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The full Pacific Green suite is strong, heavy and structurally very solid- this furniture has a steel sub-structure. Cosmetically the timber may have minor signs of use. (Enlarge each photo by employing the Magnifying Tool to get close and personal with each piece. Click on the Magnifying Tool to enlarge an image, then click on the enlarged image to Supersize it). One of the timber segments in the armrest of the 3-seater sofa has been glued back on. This is not damage- the original glue had lost its efficacy over the decades- it needed to be glued back in place. There is a minor discrepancy now (near the front- the timber sits up a bit). I was going to sand back this armrest and refinish it but I ran out of time. This would have got it completely smooth and how it was when it left the factory. The same thing is happening on one of the armchairs but these pieces are being held in firmly at the back end so it's not issue. If you wanted this perfect you could easily unscrew the armrest and glue these pieces back together. When you're moving these pieces make sure you carry them from UNDER THE SEAT SECTION NOT UNDER THE ARMREST. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Measurements.
