2022. We are always getting enquiries from people wanting Tessa T21 / Tessa Executive furniture. The ONLY fair way to give as many people as possible a chance to see the listing is to put our VINTAGE T21 listings in an OFFERS OVER situation. This 4-piece VINTAGE Tessa Executive / Tessa T21 suite is being sold UNDER CONSIGNMENT by a private seller in Sylvania, SYDNEY. Delivery Australia-wide is also possible- APPROX $380 to get this full suite to Melbourne (as an example of cost).

The investment appeal of this suite is a NO-BRAINER. This FULL suite (PAIR of CHAIRS, 3-SEATER SOFA and matching COFFEE TABLE) retailed new for about $17,500 in 2019 just before Tessa went out of business. iNVISeDGE price- OFFERS over $6,300 for this 4-piece suite. This is the first Tessa T21 suite we’ve ever had in these colours- this leather colour is RARE in these suites. (I’d describe the leather as a dark cognac colour- the pair of chairs is the best representation of colour- those photos were taken after we got out a pair of table lamps to light up the pieces better.)

Look at the frame here … this suite was built to last GENERATIONS (… forever???). Proof in that comment is in the condition of this suite after about 40 YEARS of family use. Marvel at this craftsmanship. These pieces were built to last generations!

Background Info and Provenance

(Written in 2022- some information may be time-sensitive)

This is arguably one of the best leather sofas to come out of Australia ever. The Tessa T21 3-SEATER (Executive) sofa is quite rare- the 2-seaters seem to be around but the 3-SEATER sofas are harder to get. This sofa has a stylish look- the style is refined and pared-back but it still has a bold and confident look- a trademark of all Tessa T21 furniture. At this price Tessa wouldn’t have been even able to make the sofa for this- the investment appeal here is obvious. I have no doubt this sofa will retain its value at least whilst you get to enjoy having it and using it your home. Some sofas are too “precious” to actually use (particularly if you have kids!). This design in FULL-GRAIN leather is not only beautiful but a practical investment- Tessa furniture was built to last and the FULL-GRAIN VINTAGE leather on this suite (from the early-1980’s) is the toughest leather money can buy. Please note though- the back cushions are upholstered in the original FULL-GRAIN leather made by Tessa. The seat cushions were re-upholstered by a professional upholsterer 3-years ago in LEATHER ITALIA. Leather Italia has been operating in Australia and New Zealand since 1999. They send raw Australian leather hides to Italy where they are processed into leather for furniture. The leather on the seats is also the very best quality (and close to new).   

The value of T21 furniture has sky-rocketed during COVID-19 lockdowns. The reason so many people want T21 furniture is simple- it is some of the MOST COMFORTABLE lounge furniture you’ll ever find- it has the right level of plushness and GREAT seating support. Notice the angle of the seat here- it slants back to hold you in the best possible seating position. This seat angle is MUCH more expensive to build (they did it this way because it’s the very best way to make a sofa). You’ll also notice the higher back on Tessa T21 designs (this back is higher than the back of virtually any other sofa out there). This gives your back and neck additional support making it much more comfortable than virtually all modern sofas that are nearly always LOW-LINE (with a LOW back). What I love so much about this particular design is that the high-back works from a visual perspective too. Normally a high-back in a sofa ruins the proportions of the piece and looks wrong- “clunky” / awkward. This piece is STUNNING- it just works- the minimalist timber frame pares back the overall look.

After a 50-year stint in the Australian Marketplace, making virtually ALL their furniture in AUSTRALIA, Tessa Furniture died late in 2019. It’s a sorry state of affairs when an Australian business can no longer do what they do so well because of cheap imports destined to end up as landfill. And this is the very reason why Tessa eventually died. Their designs are so well-made that the second-hand market for Tessa pieces ended up becoming more sought-after than new Tessa Furniture. And who can blame people going straight to the second-hand market for designs such as these? The QUALITY of this suite is so exceptional that second-hand suites often still look close to new after 10, 20, 30, even 40 years of use. In this listing you’re getting a sofa that looks close to new BUT  is less than ONE THIRD the price it retailed for in 2019! The investment appeal here should be obvious to anyone. 

Today in 2022, I believe this lounge suite- the Tessa T21 Executive- is one of the best investments in the furniture marketplace. Everyone seems to want T21 furniture at the moment- these suites are NO LONGER in production so more people will hang onto theirs for a lifetime of enjoyment so less and less will be coming onto the secondary market. This colour is also RARE in Tessa T21 furniture- this is the first Tessa T21 lounge suite we’ve ever had in these colours.  

This lounge suite has had about 40 years of FAMILY use- just look at it! No guessing the quality on offer here. After much of the world’s furniture ends up as landfill, this suite will be passed onto another user and eventually a whole new generation. Now that no Tessa Furniture is made anymore, I can’t see any reason why this design (made in AUSTRALIA) won’t slowly increase to the value they were selling for new (ie. $17,500 for the full suite in full-grain leather). There’s no better way I can think of to invest in your home, the future of our environment and our local community.

This sofa is in excellent condition with only minimal signs of use- certainly nothing that's noticed or spoils it. The sofa is heavy and very solidly built- the T21 design is particularly strong and durable. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The leather on the back cushions is the original FULL-GRAIN VINTAGE leather from the 1980's (these vendors purchased this suite new about 40 years ago). About 3 years ago, they had the seat cushions only re-upholstered by a professional upholsterer. He used LEATHER ITALIA for the seat cushions. Leather Italia has been operating in Australia and New Zealand since 1999. They use Australian raw hides and send them to Italy for processing where it is turned into furniture leather. Two of the back cushions have minor scratches which are not noticeable unless you're looking out for them- they're feint and shallow. These are shown in 2 of our close-up photos. The seat cushions have no signs of use that warrant a mention. All of the leather presents extremely well overall. From certain angles you may notice that the seat leather is a slightly different colour to the back leather but ONLY if this is pointed out- you'd never notice it otherwise. The leather has NO holes, NO noticeable marks, NO stains, NO rips, NO deep unsightly scratches. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The cushioning is all in excellent condition- Tessa used top-quality cushioning that lasts several generations. The cushioning is plush and comfortable. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ We removed the leather armrest protectors which did show some use- we (and our customers) prefer the look without the armrest covers on. The colour tone of the timber under the armrest covers is basically the same as the timber tone for the rest of the armrests. There is little or no fading of the timber. The timber has a different shine in the areas that were under the armrest protectors. These photos were taken in low lighting conditions so they're not as clear as our normal photos. I've inspected this suite in person and can vouch that there are no condition issues of concern. Overall, the sofa presents very well and should last for generations to come. Despite the low lighting the suite is well shown. The most accurate depiction of colour is the photos of the matching PAIR of chairs- this was when we got some bedside table lamps out to light it up more. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Measurements. Comfort is absolutely sensational- you'd be very hard-pressed to find a more comfortable sofa.
