Background Info and Provenance

(Written in 2021)

A TANGERINE vintage Nailhead vase by Whitefriars of England. As shown in the photos, when this piece is displayed with a collection of other textured glass pieces, the effect is awesome. Whitefriars was one of the world’s leading glass design houses and operated for much of the 19th and 20th century in England. In 1954 Geoffery Baxter joined the design team and in the late 1960’s he created a range of crystal vases with highly textured surfaces. This new idea was an instant hit and became one of Whitefriars most successful lines ever. These pieces are captivating with the way light shines off the crystal- the crystal construction is what gives these pieces there appeal- they seem to just gleam even when not in direct light.

These vases are virtually impossible to find here in Australia- they have never been retailed here. I’d say they’re at least 40 times rarer in Australia than in the UK (where they are very collectable).

This Whitefriars piece is certainly a vintage original AND has the original paper label to verify it. Obviously after 40+ years nearly all these paper labels are long gone so this labelled vase is rare and makes the piece a fail-proof INVESTMENT. These vases have steadily increased in value over the last ten years and should only continue to do so in the future.

Anything else shown in the group photo is NOT included but available separately through iNVISeDGE. This listing price is for the tangerine/ORANGE piece only that has been photographed on its own.
