These 4 chairs SOLD by a regular iNVISeDGE seller from NORTH LAKES, Brisbane Northside. The listed price is for ALL 4 chairs! (approx. $224 each). Delivery Australia-wide is possible for a very reasonable fee. Approx $150 for furniture freight delivery to Sydney as an example. I personally worked with these chairs and photographed them myself.

Provenance and Background Info

A stunning set of 4 saddle-leather chairs made in Italy by Arrben (c. early-1980’s). Arrben chairs are highly-esteemed and sought-after because of their practicality, comfort and the exceptional quality. The model name here is “Sultana”. These chairs have “Arrben Italy” branded into the leather under each. There are only about 3 or 4 sets of these chairs for sale WORLDWIDE at the moment (all on international websites such as 1stdibs). A set of 6 is priced at AU$4077 in the US- and the cheapest I found was a set of 4 priced at AU$2436 in Germany. The price of our set makes them a no-brainer investment.

The saddle-leather here is THICK and top-quality. The stitching also meticulous. These chairs are about 40 years old and just look at them! Ready for another lifetime of use and enjoyment. The metal is also the best quality- there’s no corrosion on the frames (but they have an unusual gold-finish that is beginning show wear- read more on that in the Condition and Dimensions section.) These have a nice minimalist look- very lean, stylish and modernist. It’s hard to believe this design is well over 40 years old- that’s timelessness for you! Many designer pieces are brash and hit you in the face- these are more restrained which means they’ll be easy to put in any space (even a small apartment). It’s hard to get dining chairs that are noticed but won’t completely dominate or crowd your dining area.

Durability. Timeless, stylish design. Enduring quality. Solid INVESTMENT appeal. Which leaves us with practicality and comfort. Pigmented saddle-leather is a great choice for dining chairs- any spills are easy to wipe off and the inherent durability of saddle-leather needs little upkeep- a clean with a good leather cleaner particularly in Summer and a quick wipe over with a quality leather conditioner every now and then will keep these looking like this for another generation. These are also exceptionally comfortable to sit in. The angles are perfect and the seat cradles your back nicely.

After most modern “designer” chairs have ended up as landfill, this exceptional set of 40-year-old Arrben chairs will be passed onto another owner and very likely future generations. There’s no better way to help protect our environment and reduce your carbon footprint but to top it off, it’s also the smartest furniture investment I can think of from a financial standpoint. These chairs have inherent value- chairs of this quality couldn’t even be mass-produced in China for this price! I see no reason why this vintage set won’t increase in value over the years as you get to enjoy them (or at the least, hold their value). Buying vintage furniture is arguably the best way to buy furniture (I doubt there could be any argument on that- after 20 years in this business I believe it’s a fact).

As the photos show, EVERY chair is in excellent vintage condition. They are about 40 years old and obviously had use but there’s NO damage or signs of use that stand out. The leather shows minor signs of their past life/lives if you want to study them closely. ALL 4 chairs are amazing structurally- the frames are rock-solid and strong with no evidence of any structural damage and there’s also no corrosion to the metal at all. All connections are perfect. The stitching is heavy-duty and in brilliant condition. Due to meticulous workmanship, these chairs look amazing 40 years on and will last the long-haul with normal use. The leather is THICK, HARD-WEARING and beautiful to sit in. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The chairs currently have a gold finish on the metal frames. I’m not sure if this is original- gold finishes were common in the 1980’s so it might be. This gold finish is wearing off in various places. I like the look of them as they are (they look vintage and there are no unsightly signs of use though). With a scouring pad the gold finish is not hard to remove- if you want them silver this would be easily achieved with little effort while you’re watching TV over a couple of nights. This is not necessary though- the chairs present well as a set as they are, so we have left the frames as we found them. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________   Measurements. cm across. Depth is about cm. The total height of each chair is cm- the seat height is cm. (For freight- these can safely be transited in one stack which means they will be about cbm all up.)
