Background Info and Provenance

(This description was written in 2007.)

A beautiful DANISH credenza/sideboard that’s minimalist, refined and stylish. This piece boasts superior construction qualities- NO crappy Parker chipboard here. This is SOLID TIMBER under stunning Rosewood veneer. (See the photo of the drawers- if you use the magnifying tool to enlarge it you’ll see they’re crafted of solid timber- it looks like it could be solid Beech under the Rosewood.) This piece was recently imported into Australia from Denmark. I’d place it in the late 1960’s or early 70’s. The PALLISANDER ROSEWOOD construction is rarely ever seen. This beautiful timber is now endangered and no longer allowed to be used in furniture production in most countries. Many furniture makers took an environmental stand against the use of this highly-prized timber in the mid-1970s when it was realised these trees were becoming endangered. As a result, vintage pieces in this stunning timber make astute investments. These pieces will at least retain their value over time and very likely will increase in value as you get to enjoy it. This Danish sideboard / cabinet has a nice “clean” design that would provide a lot of storage but at the same time would not be visually intrusive in your space.
