RRP NEW from SPACE FURNITURE- $16 000

A de Sede DS450 sofa in premium LEATHER upholstery and SIX movable parts. The moving parts and quality are the genius of this design. This sofa is a master of transformation- with two simple flicks of the wrist it transforms from sofa to double armchair. The 2 seat-sections are fitted on a manual-turning mechanism- they rotate around from the side to the front. The armrest has a ratchet joint at each end which is also manually adjustable. This means the armrest can also become a footrest (with a maximum load 50 kg). The 2 back-sections tilt backwards (about half-way down) with a gas spring that’s continuously adjustable. You can also slide the 2 seat-sections around into sofa-position and lay each armrest out completely flat to create a surface that’s long enough for anyone to sleep on (233cm long). Use the racket joint at the armrest to pull it up on one side to create a pillow head-rest when it’s in bed-position. There’s a multitude of ways this piece can be used. In a small apartment, it will be your “everyday” piece and be much loved. Perfect for 2 people to tailor the comfort that each enjoys for binge-watching Netflix, great as a day-bed for those lazy Sunday afternoons or when a friend has a few drinks and needs somewhere to crash. With the armrests down, it could also seat 4 people for when extra seating is needed when you have friends over. The sculptured headrests are not only beautiful but add a touch of class to this timeless-looking piece AND also cradle the head for total luxury.

This piece has certainly been crafted to last the long-haul. It’s as heavy as hell which means the frame should last forever. The weight is the only criticism anyone could possibly have about the design- the sofa is hard to move. But if you want the luxury of all the moving parts and fall in love with the incredible comfort this piece offers, you’ll still be taking it wherever you go- even if you have to help the removal guys get it to their truck. On flat surfaces you can put wheel cups under each leg (not included but readily available from Bunnings) and because of the weight it’s easy to roll along- all the wheel cups stay in place. It’s hard to move upstairs though. We got this sent from Sydney and for the transit we had the 2 seat-sections removed from the frame. The seat-frame is still heavy on its own but this minor dismantling made it a bit easier. (I labelled each section so if it has to be dismantled again it’s easy to match up the parts at the other end.)

This particular lounge has been used for 5 years and thanks to the quality build, it won’t be ending up in landfill for at least a generation of use (it still presents incredibly well, thanks to the hardy leather). This de Sede design was launched in 1999 and is still in production to this day vouching for its timelessness- 21 years and still going strong. There’s no better way I can think of to invest in your home and our environment.

This De Sede Lounge Sofa is about 5 years old but presents incredibly well. All moving parts work exactly as they should. The cushioning shows no sagging or degradation. The leather is premium-quality so also presents extremely well. There is very minor wear to the colour finish only. It's so minor you have to use the Super-Zoom tool to notice it. This lounge is pretty close to being in showroom condition with no condition issues that warrant a mention. You're getting a sofa that's close to new at a small fraction of what these are to buy new. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Measurements.
