Background Info and Provenance
The best way to start this description is to say that I believe this vintage pair of outdoor chairs will make a very solid investment for our customer. In 22 years of trading, this is the second pair of these vintage saucer chairs iNVISeDGE has ever stocked. In the last 10 years I can’t think of a time I’ve seen these chairs “around the traps”- certainly not as a matching pair for some time now. They are not common and very cool.
What makes them such a great investment? Quite simply, there’s a lot of work in them and most of this work was done by hand so if they tried to do replicas (which I don’t think is going to happen for about 50 years) the cost to make them new would mean they’d have to sell them in Australia for at least what iNVISeDGE is asking for this authentic vintage pair here. Because these are vintage ORIGINALS that are about 70 years old, they will always have more value than any cheaply-made replica that may get released in the future. (Study the photos and it will become plainly obvious to anyone these are vintage originals.)
This means that I can’t see how this pair of outdoor chairs could ever lose a cent of value. That’s a bold comment to make but it’s a comment I can easily substantiate. I have Screenshots (included in this listing) to show that these chairs are selling on international websites for around AU$1300 PER chair- AU$2600 THE PAIR (ie. over two and a half times our asking price). Values for these are on their way up- get in now before prices become unattainable.
So there will be people asking, what is the provenance / background of these chairs? I’ll get to the point quickly and say that, I DON’T REALLY CARE who made them. The chairs sell themselves and are certainly 60 – 70 years old. But I’ll make an effort to attribute them anyway. I strongly believe they are Italian. Over 21 years I’ve seen a few European and American dealers state outright they are Italian. Is this solid proof they are Italian? NO! Do I think there’s more than 75% chance they are Italian? Yes- there’s more chance than not these are Italian.
Do I think that these outdoor saucer chairs are Australian? No, I don’t. There are many reasons for me to believe this but the goal of my description is to help a buyer decide to invest in these cool chairs, NOT write an encyclopedia entry about them. Finding the information I need on a worldwide platform will be nearly impossible for these- they are too old and there are not enough of these chairs around for the information I need to be there. (The rarity cements the investment appeal here- try finding another pair of these for sale right now.)
To finish up this looooong description. This pair of plastic basket-weave outdoor saucer chairs tick EVERY box obviously. They are a very smart PRACTICAL design (that doesn’t collect the rain). They are VERY COMFORTABLE- beautiful to relax in- just look at the angles! The basket-weave design also has “give” for softness (which is rare in outdoor furniture. Softness = extra comfort). Plus these are stunning to look at- so very cool! They’re also very durable- just look at them after about 60 to 70 years!
Investing in authentic landmark designs of the mid-century era is a smart way to go. Most good designs increase in value along with inflation at least. Rare items (and these are rare) that find sudden favour can (and often do) increase in value by double and sometimes more in a matter of a few years. There’s no better way I can think of to invest in your home and in the future of our environment. Investing in vintage design reduces landfill AND promotes the ideal that items should be built to last otherwise they are not serving us, or the earth.

PICK-UP . . . is accepted- professional delivery is preferred. This item is heavy and will require 2 strong people for pick-up. PLEASE NOTE- I live in Brisbane and run this business from Brisbane. PICK-UPS and VIEWINGS will be facilitated by a sub-contractor (someone who is NOT an employee of iNVISeDGE). I recommend that customers use a specialist furniture carrier for larger furniture items- these people know what they’re doing and come with what’s needed to look after your investment. I’ve seen too many customers try to force things in the back of 4WDs or put something in a trailer not protected. LOCAL DELIVERIES tend to be ABOUT $70 to $100 for a ONE-MAN delivery (for ONE standard sized item eg. 3.5-seater sofa or a set of 6 dining chairs). If you live over 25km away from the item, delivery will be AROUND $120 but it depends on various factors such as access issues and when you can receive the item. Sydney is a little more expensive compared to Brisbane (as another example) . . . . . . . “Normal” INTERSTATE DELIVERY (eg. Brisbane to Sydney OR Melbourne to Sydney) is generally about $250 for ONE standard-sized item (eg. a 3.5-seater sofa or a set of 6 dining chairs but it can depend on various factors. Sometimes it will be cheaper- $250 is about the average. Smaller items are less than $250. If you have a really big sofa (as an example) it will usually be around $280.
