SOLD!
This piece was sold under consignment by a private seller in Ocean Shores, BYRON BAY. I personally took these photos and inspected the piece. This piece had significant signs of use, hence the low sale price.
This piece can be freighted to most areas of Australia. Freight to Sydney would be ABOUT $200.
Background Info and Provenance
(This description was written in 2023.)
A mid-century sideboard / buffet designed and constructed by SYDNEY furniture maker, PARKER. This design is from the Nordic line released in the early 1960’s- I love the cat’s-eye handles and the nice colouring of the timber. The dimensions are also great- this is a handy size and much easier to place in any room. These smaller 1960’s cabinets are also much harder to find making them a much stronger investment. You could even purchase a second one and push them together to form a longer unit. Vintage Parker sideboards in these dimensions usually retail for about $2,400. Yes- this one shows more use than the ones priced at $2,400 but it’s still a no-brainer investment that should only appreciate in value in future years.
This Parker vintage teak sideboard is about 60 years old. The construction and all join areas areas are solid and strong after all these years. These were not flat-packed and bought in from developing countries in pieces- they were built by cabinet-makers in Australia back in the early 1960’s. Why spend money on items that won’t last? When you invest in vintage furniture it’s a win for you financially but also for our environment because any furniture that’s over 50 years old and still going strong is bound to be passed onto future generations.
