Provenance and Background Info

A pair of Lippi O designer swivel chairs for Mobel, Finland. This design was created by Jouko Järvisalo and released by Mobel in 2001. Not many new designs were released in the 1990’s and early-noughties. After the prolific design era of the 1950’s and 60’s, new designs slowed down. The 1980’s saw a resurgence in landmark design during the Memphis period but after that, things slowed down as the replica market took off and the iconic designs of the past were re-visited. A new design had to be truly exceptional to shine during this time. One look at these chairs shows you why this design rose to the surface and made production.

This design is eye-catching but still has a sleek, refined quality. Stylish, restrained but still noticed. This is almost impossible to achieve. These are also beautiful settle into- the attention to the ergonomics is spot-on. Lippi O chairs envelope you and the touch of the leather is luxurious too. With high backs and generous proportions, they’re highly supportive and remain comfortable to relax in for hours.

The investment appeal here is also a no-brainer. Similar chairs average about AU $8,000 EACH. Arper Aston chairs in leather retail new overseas for $6,691 AUSTRALIAN dollars EACH. In BoConcept, there’s a leather feature chair for over $10,000 but this design has more personality and presence in my opinion. It doesn’t look the same as any other feature chairs out there. They’d be right at home in a penthouse apartment but the minimalist look means it could be cleverly used in virtually any interior.

These Lippi O designer chairs by Jouko Järvisalo for Mobel, Finland are bound to be passed from this generation to the next. Investing in items that were built to last is our only way out of this mess and the best way to respect our earth and its resources. There are very few better ways to invest in your home and reduce landfill.

These Lippi O swivel chairs are in brilliant condition. I'd say they are over 20 years old but because of the quality of the design, construction and materials used, they present extremely well. They've been built to last with a sensible, practical design (it'd be very hard to "trash" these chairs). The inherent durability of the design prevents this from happening. They have very minor signs of use- nothing that construes as damage, just what you'd expect of 20+ year-old chairs that have been very-well looked after. They are photographed in as found condition. We've purposely done this to show they have age to them- this helps to demonstrate the durability of the design. My vendor is going to deep-clean the white leather and we'll post some additional photos online soon. The timber edges have minor colour loss- touching up these edges with a black marker pen and rubbing the edge to blend in the colour will eliminate this but it's not something that's noticed anyway. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Lippi O Measurements.
